Valentine’s Inspo: 3 Unisex Picks

A week to go until our newsfeeds are chock-a-block with couples’ insta pics sporting captions like: ‘I don’t know how she puts up with me!’ and ‘Valentine’s Day with this one!’ I can’t say I’ve never been one of those soppy-posters, but I can definitely say I’m not a hopeless romantic, so Valentine’s has never been my favourite and I’m not one for lovey-dovey gifts. I’d much prefer something I’d actually use. So here are my top 3 picks for those of you struggling to find Valentine’s gifts for your special guy or gal!

I’m loving the plant trend right now and almost every empty surface in my room has a plant of some kind occupying the space. I’m most drawn to cacti though because they are so super easy to care for and love my set of 3 mini cacti from IKEA because let’s be honest, everything’s cuter when it’s mini and definitely even cuter when it requires minimal effort. They’re a fab on-trend gift to add a dash of colour and zen to anyone’s windowsill or kitchen counter. Plus, they’re super cheap most places, with IKEA giving you three for £4.50 here!

Okay I realise this one seems super boring but I can honestly say my cashmere bed socks are my absolute fave for lounging around the house, they’re definitely a total indulgence that I normally wouldn’t buy for myself, so getting them as a gift was perfect! They’re a little on the pricey side, but a toasty extravagance that is totally worth the pennies. Johnstons of Elgin do fab ones for men like these ones here (plus Johnstons are local and their quality is phenomenal!), and for the ladies, The White Company do lovely super-soft ones like these ones here.

They say a way to man’s heart is through his stomach, well I don’t think that applies to men only. Who doesn’t love a big box of sweet treats? Krispy Kreme have launched an array of super cute heart-shaped doughnut designs in time for Valentine’s Day in flavours like nutella, strawberry cream and raspberry and chocolate truffle. The assortment can be seen here. A gift which is bound to please, and if not, all the more for you!

I’ve been invited to many events by Jan de Vries and this event is one that I’m super gutted I can’t make! They are hosting a vegan Valentine’s chocolate workout with Ayesha Shahid on the 9th of January from 11:00-12:30pm at their Edinburgh store in the West End. Tickets cost £30 and can be purchased here. Sounds like a fab chance to do something different, especially if you’re bored of the usual evening dinner and cinema dates!
