The right lipstick can make you feel on top of the world and really make a look ‘pop’. Although, a bad one can make you look washed out and feeling less than glam. I’m a huge fan of lipsticks, especially pillarbox red and vampy plum shades. Over the years I’ve tried high-end to budget and everything inbetween, and NYX soft matte lip creams became my staple fave. I love the consistency, staying-power, and they don’t break the bank at only 6 quid a pop!
A few weeks ago I stumbled upon the PS Super Matte Liquid Lipstick in shade ‘Kiki’ in my local Primark and I was hooked. I was dubious at first about the super low price of £2.00, but boy oh boy was I surprised. The staying-power of these lip creams is amazing, even after 4 glasses of wine at the weekend my lips were still as pigmented as they were when I applied and the colour hadn’t feathered or smudged at all. Not to mention, the consistency dries in so well that there is no transfer at all, so you don’t need to worry about smudging it on whatever or whoever. I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by Primark’s budget beauty range and always seem to pick up a few bits and bobs every time I’m in. Check out another PS beauty review here.
I loved this product so much that I went back and purchased another two in shades ‘Kim’ (a creamy nude of course), and ‘Kylie’, a dark purply red. Shade ‘Kim’ didn’t suit my skin tone that well at all as I’m so pale and I found it needed quite a few coats to get a solid colour. But I loved the ‘Kylie’ shade, and think it might be a winter swap for my usual pilarbox red.
The only thing about these lipsticks, like many other matte lip products, they are very drying and can leave lips feeling a little chalky, but this is to be expected so it’s not a big deal. So make sure you load up on the lip balm beforehand to avoid a flaky and patchy pout! Check out my other fave lip products here.
Have any of you tried any of the other shades?
