Black Satin & Vintage Chequerboard

Friday night I went along to the charity MMA event at the Hilton Hotel to support a friend taking part, and as there was a strict dress code I panicked as usual that I wouldn’t find anything to wear but I think we all scrubbed up pretty well in the end.

I ended up wearing an old faithful, my trusty black satin dress from River Island (you can never go wrong with a LBD). I love the cut of this dress and the satin material makes it feel extra festive.

I paired it with one of my favourite vintage clutch bags. It’s true 1960s vintage and is beaded all over which makes it really special, but also so damn heavy! I am a huge fan of monochrome and it is my usual go-to so this bag ticks all the boxes for me, and just big enough for your purse, phone and lippy (Collection Velvet Kiss Lip Cream in ‘Rosie’ is my fave of the moment). Check out my other faves here.

For jewellery, I kept it simple and went for my fave Vivienne Westwood Grace Bas Relief earrings and Vivienne Westwood St James watch. With my statement clutch I didn’t want to clutter the look.

I knew I’d be standing all evening so I was dreading getting sore feet, so opted for my new Kallia black suede lace up sandals from Pretty Little Thing (check them out in my last PLT blog post here). These shoes were soooo comfortable and were perfect for a long night and the lace up strap detail keeps them from looking drab despite the lack of heel. So I would highly recommend these to keep you dancin’ all night long!

Hope you all had a fab weekend and enjoyed the event too if you were there!
