Helen Keller once said “smell is a potent wizard that transports you across thousands of miles and all the years you have lived”.
I’m a huge fan of Yankee Candle and all the yummy scents they produce, but I am a student on a budget so I’m not such a huge fan of their hefty price tag. Okay, so they’re not extortionate in comparison to the Fornasetti candles which can be found in Selfridges for a rather frightening £115 – £530!
I can hardly see anyone treating me to these on my christmas wishlist no matter how much I beg, so I’ll stick to looking for cheaper alternatives. Yankee created a slightly cheaper range of fragrance products called the ‘Home Inspiration’ range which you can pick up in various supermarkets. I popped into my local Poundworld for a can of juice and stumbled upon these little beauties.
Home Inspiration Wax Melt Cubes in packs of 6 at a mere quid per pack! Being a true bargain lover and fragrance-fanatic I grabbed a pack in all three fragrances they had in stock:
The name doesn’t lie. Not too sweet surprisingly seeing as it is a cocktail-themed scent, but packs a punch in terms of staying power. Creates a really fresh sharp scent perfect for a kitchen or bathroom.
Vanilla Ice Cream Sundae
A super-sweet yet comforting scent which is suited to a lounge or bedroom to create a homely feel. This one is probably my favourite as it reminds me of warm homemade cookie dough (although it really does rouse my sweet tooth!)
Probably the least offensive of the bunch. Definitely one for those who don’t like overpowering or sickly-sweet scents. It smells of freshly washed laundry and creates a really fresh and clean scent which is great for warming up after a spring clean (surprisingly also works wonders on a hangover!)
You can use these wax melts on a tealight oil burner like my one from Yankee Candle, but I prefer to use them on my Glade wax melt burner. Have any of you found any budget-friendly fragrance goodies you love?
