I’m absolutely obsessed with vintage fashion and anything with a funky psychedelic print automatically has my attention, and this passion has completely skyrocketed since working for Those Were The Days Vintage in Edinburgh. My knowledge of vintage definitely increased and consequently so did the contents of my wardrobe (immensely to the horror of my mum!) A family meal was my excuse to doll myself up a bit which I haven’t had time for lately because of the much-dreaded final year of uni, and the result was a much girlier look than I’m used to.
I opted for a super bright psychedelic 1960s mini dress with the most fab flared sleeves and paired it with some black opaque tights and silver metallic heeled boots from Kurt Geiger. I love these boots so much because they’re amazingly comfy and for jazzing up plain outfits or pairing with vintage prints to really make them pop! This dress would be amazing with white tights for a super 60s look but honestly I’m just not brave enough. So so jealous of anyone who can pull off the mod-style coloured tights (teach me how!) I accessorised with some classic 60s plain white circle earrings and a chunky orange cameo ring.
I always try to mix my vintage pieces with plenty of modern ones too. So many die-hard vintage fanatics would disagree with this but it’s just not possible or realistic to wear exclusively vintage head to toe on a student’s budget (if you wanted a good quality anyway). But honestly I don’t think I would want to anyway. I find that mixing up modern and vintage items helps keep the look fresh and fashion should be about fun and mixing eras, prints, and brands however you like!
