Is it just me who absolutely adores magazines? The way my fingertips longingly linger over the glossy pages, the way the colours jump out at me as I flick leisurely through them, and the way they always manage to make the most monotonous of commutes seem that little less tedious. I love it all.

It’s no secret that the world is becoming increasingly technological, we are constantly immersed in media and the world is rapidly becoming a digital one. Because of this, people are opting out of paper copies of magazines and newspapers, and instead viewing them online or getting their monthly subscriptions sent to their mobiles.

Sure, digital has its benefits: it’s more eco-friendly and takes up virtually no space, although this still does not sell the idea to me. I just much prefer physical media, be that magazines, books, or vinyl records. I don’t know why I just do. It could be down to the fact that I feel it makes one little thing in life that little bit more simple? I mean we already live in a world where everything is stored on computers, databases and servers, all of which seem to be a never-ending cycle of problems and error messages.

We all need to get away from screens just a few minutes a day. Give our eyes a break and give ourselves a chance to breathe escape the chaos of the fast-moving digital age we all live in. Give ourselves a chance to breathe. Reading a magazine or book in physical paper print does this for me, allows me to take some time out and relax, allow my mind to wander. That is why I always pick print over digital.

Who knows? Maybe someday someone will manage to convert me to digital, but for now and the foreseeable future, I will be devotedly purchasing my magazines in print format only.

Do you prefer print or digital? Think you could make me change my mind? I’d love to know what you think!
